Most metals and alloys are solid, ductile, and electrically and thermally conductive materials. When 2 or more distinct elements, at least one of which is a metal, are combined, the result is an alloy. The improved intensity or corrosion resistance are examples of properties that help the components. A metal is mixed with another metal or nonmetal in order to create an alloy. Solid solution, compound, or mixture with another metal or nonmetal are all acceptable definitions of alloys.
